What’s new

Open Mic Detection

On networks where no End Open Mic policy has been configured, Open Mic Detection now defaults to Relaxed. This automatically ends transmissions after sustained silence to protect against stuck-open accessory microphones. Admins who have explicitly chosen a policy, including “Not Applied,” are unaffected.

General improvements

Bluetooth PTT accessories now reliably regain hardware-button functionality after an iPhone restart, including Klein BluPTT, Jabra Perform 75, and Pryme BT-PTT-ZU Super Mini models that previously required a headset power cycle to recover.
Incoming messages now play more reliably when Zello receives them in the background.
Audio now resumes correctly after phone-call or Siri interruptions.

What’s new

This update adds full support for the Jabra Perform 10 (MFi variant) push-to-talk accessory and improves live audio playback on poor networks, along with bug fixes and stability improvements.

General improvements

Added full support for the Jabra Perform 10 (MFi variant) push-to-talk accessory, including channel controls, replay, emergency, AI Assistant, and status toggles in both the foreground and background.
The talk button release sound now plays at full volume in the background when the PTT Framework is active, replacing the much fainter built-in iOS sound. It can also be customized from Settings → Alert sounds regardless of PTT Framework state.
Live audio playback now recovers more quickly on networks with packet loss or congestion, and returns to normal timing as soon as conditions improve. This is now available to all users.
The PTT settings screen now shows “Connected, audio disconnected” for multifunction accessories whose audio route is not active, making accessory connection issues easier to diagnose.
Improved app launch performance.

Bug fixes

Fixed an issue where background text, image, location, and alert push notifications could fail to be acknowledged on iOS 26.5, causing affected users to be put into standby and disconnected.
Fixed an issue where swiping back from the talk screen during an active emergency could exit the emergency screen without showing the cancel-emergency confirmation prompt. The prompt is now shown for both the back button and the swipe-back gesture.
Fixed an issue where the first push-to-talk press could fail to transmit after the app had been in the background for an extended time when using a Bluetooth accessory.
Reduced clipping at the start of voice transmissions when using a Bluetooth push-to-talk button together with Bluetooth headphones.

What’s new

Single Sign-On (SSO)

Added support for ephemeral SSO sessions on shared iOS devices. Admins can enable this through an MDM-configured setting so that each user authenticates with their own SSO account, regardless of any prior Safari or identity-provider session left on the device.

General improvements

Removed the Facebook SDK and the App Tracking Transparency permission prompt. Zello no longer asks for permission to track activity across other apps and websites on iOS.

Incoming voice messages now keep playing in the background after a hardware PTT button transmission ends while the device is locked.

What’s new

With this update, Apple’s Push to Talk (PTT) Framework is on for all Zello users on iOS. The release also includes improvements to Bluetooth PTT button reconnection, Off-Duty Mode notification behavior, and clearer dispatch call status on the talk screen.

Push to Talk Framework

Apple’s Push to Talk (PTT) Framework is now always on for Zello users on iOS, making Zello more accessible across the device. With the PTT Framework enabled, users get access to the PTT Shortcut, which lets them send and receive messages from the lock screen, reply through a heads-up display while using other apps, and see who’s talking without switching back to Zello.

Starting with iOS 26, Apple requires all push-to-talk apps to use the PTT Framework, so it’s automatically enabled and always active for Zello users on iOS.
A short tutorial walks users through the PTT Shortcut on first launch.
Two behaviors worth knowing: push notifications need to stay on for text messages and photos to come through in the background, and tapping "Leave" disconnects you from Zello until you reopen the app. See our support article for details.

Dispatch call interface

The talk screen now shows clearer status for dispatch calls, with updated "In Queue" and "Active" indicators and a redesigned end call button.
Unread message badges now take priority over dispatch call status indicators, and status badges display correctly on both the Recents and Channels tabs.

General improvements

The app now reconnects more reliably when returning from the PTT Framework after being in the background.
Bluetooth PTT buttons now reconnect more reliably, with smarter scanning and progressive retry intervals for failed connections.
Off-Duty Mode now correctly silences all notifications when the app is in the background.

Bug fixes

Fixed an issue where the PTT overlay displayed "Zello User" instead of the actual username after toggling airplane mode.

What’s new

Status menu

Status can now be changed from a new dropdown menu by tapping the profile icon. This menu also includes a link to the full Profile screen.
The status dropdown is also accessible directly from the talk screen.
The "Messages silenced" state now appears in the status dropdown when messages are temporarily silenced.

Dispatch indicators

Drivers using Dispatch channels now see "Active" and "In Queue" indicators on the Recents and Channels screens, making it easier to track dispatch call state without opening each conversation.

General improvements

The Recents tab icon now shows an unread message counter, making it easier to notice missed messages when on other tabs.
Bluetooth PTT accessories now transmit more reliably immediately after the app moves to the background.

Zello now automatically detects and maps PTT buttons on compatible Bluetooth accessories when they connect. No manual configuration is required. Admins can control this behavior from the Management Console.

The indicator that appeared while talking to Ella has been removed when the Ella screen is visible.

Missed messages

Missed message counters across Recents, the Talk screen, and Message History now stay in sync and decrease as messages are viewed. Viewing all messages for a contact or channel clears its missed counter, and the global counter decreases accordingly.
Tapping the X on a missed-message banner now permanently dismisses it and reduces both the missed-message count for that contact or channel and the overall missed-message total.
Tapping a missed-message banner now jumps to the first missed message, clears the banner, and reduces the missed-message count for that contact or channel as well as the overall total.
Viewing missed messages now lowers the missed-message count. A message must be viewed for at least two seconds before it no longer counts as missed.
Messages sent in an ad-hoc channel to a busy user are now correctly counted in the missed-message total.
The colors of the top and bottom missed-message indicators on the History screen have been updated.
Missed message counts now properly decrease after offline messages are downloaded, and all offline messages are now correctly reflected in the total.
